Our Story

We first met over 20 years ago, working side by side at well-known Lake District establishments — long days, late nights, and laughter in between. It was there that our shared love of food, hospitality, and each other first began to grow.

Simon went on to cook in some of the Lakes’ finest kitchens before our path took us south — all the way to the warmth of Provence. There, he spent seasons amongst the vines during la vendange, before running his own French kitchen in a much-loved local hotspot.

After five years in France, we returned to the UK and made our home in the North East, where Simon ran the golf club kitchen at Slaley Hall Golf Resort. From there, we found our way back to the Lakes once more, where he became Head Chef at the First Floor Café at Lakeland.

After Covid and some time away from catering, we decided the time was now to create something special — built on the foundations of what we believe in most: family, friendship, and food.

We’ve always felt that Cumbria holds some of the very best produce in the country, and we’re so excited to add a little French twist to those flavours — creating something heartfelt and delicious for you all to enjoy.

And so, Kin. was created.

We have been blown away with all your support so far and all the beautiful new friends we’ve made along the way!

Thank you with all our hearts.
